This position reports to Associate Director EMEA Packaging and is based in Pomezia (Italy).

What you will do

The Packaging Engineer is responsible for coordinating the development and qualification of primary and secondary packaging for projects in his scope. These projects might be – but not limited to – NPD, reformulation, quality and compliance, improvement of existing packaging, qualification of equivalent packaging materials or additives, mold duplication, packaging cost improvement, plant support, improvement of products profitability, development of new products or roll out of existing ones. The Packaging Engineer is demonstrating high level of accountability in projects documentation to ensure Quality & Compliance targets are systematically met. The Packaging Engineer provides technical expertise in the areas of development, testing and production scale-up of new packaging component and systems. Under supervision, manage simple to medium complexity technical projects:

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross functional partners in EMEA and outside of EMEA to the definition of the packaging brief and regional needs.

  • Coordinate the creation/modification/improvement of packaging in collaboration with global hubs and external partners, covering packaging development, qualification and implementation.

  • Identify and evaluate technical solution, including materials aligned to sustainability guidelines

  • Define & execute the packaging development plan

  • Analyze and validate packaging technical drawing with the support of experienced packaging team members or manager

  • Define and communicate packaging milestones

  • Evaluate and communicate risks with associated mitigation/back up plan

  • Initiate safety assessment process, through proper communication to responsible department

  • Generate Packaging documentation for Product release for his own projects

  • Contribute to innovation developing consumer understanding and identifying new ideas.

  • Initiate and own documentation critical to track and follow the change

  • Create Packaging component specifications and can validate PC specs and Finish product specs

  • Perform due diligence / gap assessment

  • The Packaging Engineer understands the consequences of what he/she does with an end to end view

Qualifications

What we are looking for

Required Qualifications

  • Master or Engineering degree or equivalent

  • 1-2 years of related work experience

  • Technical understanding of Packaging materials and techniques

  • Project management experience

  • Industrialization

  • Cosmetic consumer goods experience

  • Understanding of sustainability packaging concepts

  • English is important
