Job Information

KIHOMAC Production Manager/Composites Technician in Layton, Utah

  • Shop travelers, work instructions, templates, sample parts, process sheets and other authorized information

  • Lead preparation and fabrication of molds and forms

  • Mark and cut tape, woven material, adhesive, and similar materials following templates, guides or specific dimensions and sequences following specific instruction

  • Vacuum bag parts for room temperature cure/de-bulk

  • Lead the lay-up of composite materials to molds and filament wound parts

  • Fit and smooth successive layers of materials as necessary to secure build-up free from wrinkles, air pockets, and voids following directions and instructions

  • Prepare surface, contour shaping, and sanding

  • Polish, de-burr, drill, ream, countersink, and grind

  • Check expiration dates of materials prior to use

  • Prepare proper mixes of resins and catalysts

  • Maintain records as required

  • Support quality process by maintaining work area in an orderly condition

  • Return tools, equipment, and material to storage areas after use

  • Read, interpret, and understand military specifications, aircraft blueprints, commercial blueprints, AS9100, and NADCAP specifications

  • Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operation procedures and practices

  • Train, mentor, and lead Apprentice and Journeyman composite technicians

  • Work with Composite Fabrication Manager to ensure that all responsibilities are met, and others understand the tasks they have been given

  • Work independently while following directions and assignments

  • Other duties as assigned

Manager Duties

  • Execute personnel-related activities to include

  • Create realistic and accurate job descriptions

  • Direct employee workload to ensure productivity and performance against job description

  • Engage to manage positive employee relations and workplace atmosphere; work to resolve any personnel issues

  • Conduct ongoing feedback – both informal and semiannual feedback, counseling if necessary

  • Advise management as to which employees deserve recognition including but not limited to raises, promotions and awards

  • Manage accuracy of employee timecards

  • Ensure employees receive and perform any required training for position and company needs

  • Guide employees to ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies/processes

  • Serve as link between upper management and employees; disseminate company information as appropriate – goals/changes/updates/news

  • Coordinate with Director and/or VP on corporate matters

  • Stand and move for prolonged periods of time to accomplish workload

  • Regularly lift and move up to 30 pounds independently, up to 50 pounds with assistance

  • Must follow company safety rules and procedures including, but not limited to, PPE, emergency procedures, and lockout/tagout procedures

  • Other manager duties as assigned

Requirements

Education/Training (both required and desired):

  • High School diploma required

  • Composite program certification preferred

Experience:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in the required task area required

Security:

  • Must be a US citizen

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required
