KIHOMAC Craftsman Wire Harness Technician in Layton, Utah

Expertise and Functions

  • Provide support to either Program/Project Manager in the areas of project scheduling, data gathering/analyses, database manipulation or population, preparation of technical/project reports or briefings, test plans and reports, and associated documentation, test or validation/verification assistance

  • Oversee/perform test or project events as assigned by Program Manager or Engineering supervisor, report status and results

  • Following engineering guidance, technical orders, and drawings.

  • Performs and oversees moderately complex assembly/test functions utilizing mechanical skills, hand and power tools, test equipment, and inspection measurement equipment in a manufacturing environment

  • Perform and inspect wire terminations and wire harness assembly (OJT)

  • Produce and inspect assemblies conforming to customer specifications (OJT)

  • Assemble, test, and solder as required per customer/industry standards (OJT)

  • Perform electrical checkout of manufactured wire harnesses (OJT)

  • Document records identifying compliance with assigned tasks regarding wire harness manufacturing (OJT)

  • Establish, organize & maintain detailed inventory of government, customer and KIHOMAC property (OJT)

  • Lay out/assemble units for production according to designs, specifications, and work instructions (OJT)

  • Modifies equipment by adding, removing, or altering components as per predetermined processes (OJT)

  • Maintain high ethical/professional standards of performance, demeanor, and judgment always

  • Observes all safety rules and maintains a foreign object debris (FOD) free work area

  • Trains and assist other technicians on techniques and procedures

  • Attends meetings and conferences to represent section

  • Communicates with vendors to acquire quotes for hardware and materials (OJT)

  • Performs hardware procurement through purchase requests (OJT)

  • Document records identifying compliance with assigned tasks regarding wire harness manufacturing

  • Report status and results

  • Maintain a clean work area

  • Work unsupervised at times

Requirements

Qualifications

Education/Training (both required and desired):

  • High School diploma required

  • Associate’s Degree in management or technical/scientific discipline desired

  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC J-STD-001 Certification desired

Experience:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in the required task area required

  • U.S. military aircraft maintenance and wiring experience desired

  • Ability to comprehend schematics, logic drawings, layouts, wire lists, and prints required

  • Ability to use various hand tools, soldering equipment, and machinery required

  • Impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail a must

  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits required

  • Wire termination experience using DMC Tools “Daniels Kit” style tools desired

  • Knowledge of cable assembly procedures desired

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively required

  • Ability to troubleshoot malfunctions, identify and repair malfunctions using provided technical data and tools desired

  • Familiarity with USAF TO 1-1A-14 (AKA NAVAIR 01-1A-505-1 or TM 1-1500-323-21-1) desired

  • Basic knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC J-STD-001 desired

  • Capable of standing for long periods of time required

  • Able to work cross functionally in other areas as needed

  • Ability to identify/assign priorities based on time constraints and resources available required

Security:

  • Must be a US citizen

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required
