Actalent Electronics Production Planner in Laurel, Maryland

Job Title: Electronics Production PlannerRole Overview:

As an Electronics Production Planner, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless assembly of high-reliability hardware for space and Department of Defense (DoD) programs. Your mission is to coordinate and optimize the production process, ensuring that every component aligns flawlessly. As a production planner, you’ll optimize efficiency within the technician and assembly space. This is a great opportunity to w ork with state-of-the-art technology in Surface Mount Technology (SMT) manufacturing and contribute to critical hardware used for massive Aerospace and Defense missions. Areas of focus will be:

  • Kit Audits: Ensure accurate kit assembly.

  • Engineering Collaboration: Work closely with space department and engineering teams.

  • Quantity Determination: Calculate quantities needed for production.

  • Process Adherence: Follow established templates and processes.

  • Teamwork: Collaborate both independently and as part of a team.

  • Manual Dexterity: Handle small components with care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Substitution Management: Create Excel spreadsheets to track part substitutions and manage shortages effectively.

  • Communication and Coordination: Collaborate with personnel across the lab to ensure timely delivery of components and materials.

  • Inventory Organization: Label and load components into magazines for pick-and-place machines, meticulously tracking parts by job.

  • Problem-Solving Support: Assist machine handlers with any issues they encounter during production.

  • Attention to Detail: Identify discrepancies and analyze part numbers with precision.

  • Technical Understanding: Grasp the intricacies of electronic components.

  • Documentation: Describe parts accurately and maintain thorough documentation.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 2+ years of experience with inventory control.

  • Proficiency in Excel and Word.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in a technical or administrative discipline.

  • Understanding of electrical assembly processes.

  • Experience with ERP or MRP software.

  • Willingness to learn hand and machine soldering.

  • Customer service experience.

Special Working Conditions:

  • Occasional overtime on evenings/weekends.

  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) training.

  • Approximately 75% of work in a cleanroom environment.
