Aerotek Water Plant Operator in Las Vegas, Nevada

Job Title: Plant Operator

Job Description

The Operator-In-Training, under the supervision of a project manager or lead operator, operates various types of process equipment and filtration systems used to treat industrial wastewater, sanitary wastewater, potable water, and drinking water. The incumbent works at various types of treatment facilities that may have waste classified as hazardous.

Responsibilities

  • Record operational data from process control instruments and meters, gauge readings, and chemical metering systems on specified forms.

  • Operate, inspect, adjust, and monitor process equipment to detect problems on air, water, and solids handling systems.

  • Perform process calculations required for the proper operation of equipment, including chemical dosage rates, biological loading, clarifier operation, and sludge generation rate under direction.

  • Add process chemicals such as potassium permanganate, hydrogen peroxide, caustic, acid, chlorine, polymer, and coagulant using mixers, pumps, and metering devices.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in water filtration and/or water treatment.

  • Holds CA water treatment or distribution operator’s license, or must obtain license within two (2) years from the date of employment.

  • Ability to comprehend and follow safety procedures, including hazardous waste site operations.

  • Ability to operate equipment, meters, and gauges.

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).

  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic and algebra commonly used in the water treatment industry.

Work Environment

You will be working both indoors and outdoors. The team is small, around 10 people. The shift is from 6:00am to 2:30pm, with the expectation of occasional overtime. Dress code includes work pants/shirt and steel-toed boots.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Henderson, Nevada.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00
