FirstService Residential Internal Communications & Culture Manager in Las Vegas, Nevada

Job Overview:

The Manager of Internal Communications & Culture is a seasoned professional who will work closely with executive leaders to make culture a strong component of the overall business strategy and is responsible for developing and executing key communication programs and activities to help drive associate engagement. This role will focus on developing and executing communication strategies and deliverables to support change management, leadership communication, and onboarding-related communication and activities for new properties. This role will ensure all associates feel connected to the organization and aligned with business goals, our Global Service Standards, and core values.

The Manager of Internal Communications & Culture will develop the strategy and collaborate with HR and other internal teams to execute the plan to deliver associate communications, events, and recognition programs for the FirstService Residential Organization. This role is responsible for creating strategic communications campaigns, delivering innovative ways to engage employees that are in tune with FirstService’s culture, writing communications, business update presentations, and talking points, and organizing employee meetings and events that ensure internal messages and branding align with our external marketing campaigns. The Manager of Internal Communications & Culture will collaborate with internal cross-functional partners (Marketing, Legal, HR, Operations, etc.) and geographies as needed.

This role will also partner closely with our marketing department to focus on building a strategy and regular cadence around communicating with current customers to continue to build a strong connection with FirstService Residential.

The Internal Communications & Culture Manager, will create new communication channels and work with leaders and colleagues to help teams navigate change, communicate effectively, and maintain alignment as we continue to grow. This role will leverage experience in communication and events planning to draw people together to work towards common goals, instill trust throughout our processes, and motivate our teams to improve associate connections.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Be a creative self-starter who can manage numerous projects and tight deadlines.
  • Create and produce engaging short videos.
  • Develop effective communication content that captures the voice of our leaders and the tone of our culture while requiring minimal editing and rework.
  • Establish targeted communications and strategy/mechanisms to deliver overall business-specific messaging to associates and current customers that help drive engagement;
  • Demonstrate a collaborative approach to working with the ability to interact and influence associates at all levels, including senior executives.
  • Oversee executive communications and thought leadership, working with various leaders to communicate effectively across channels both internal and external.
  • Build a plan to help manage internal speaking and presentations for executives. Vet and help edit materials, including slide decks, presentations, event scripts, videos, and more.

Communication

  • Develop and execute a robust internal communications strategy that engages and encompasses onsite and offsite team members and supports the FirstService Culture.
  • Set the tone, develop, implement, and manage the organization’s internal marketing programs and strategies, including developing communications and event planning.
  • Develop and/or oversee and provide direction to the creation of advertising and collateral materials for internal audiences, including messaging screens in all regional offices.
  • Serve as liaison and collaborate with internal departments to manage the website and mobile applications for FirstService Residential’s communities. Manage site content, navigation, usability, appearance, and functionality. Develop and foster strategic plans for all media platforms, including the implementation of new initiatives that will better serve internal and external customers.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies to provide insight related to content management practices and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate with Marketing on social media content creation to engage associates to promote and market internal programs and events.
  • Work in partnership with the national and local marketing teams for consistent branding and alignment with overall organization standards.
  • Advise executives and managers on their role in effective internal communication.
  • Develop communication materials for current customers to strengthen existing relationships and deliver on our brand promise.

Events

  • Develop, recommend, and manage the budget for the functional area of responsibility. Monitor expenses, initiate cost reduction programs, and negotiate prices with vendors. Ensure department expenses and events are maintained within budget.
  • Establish, maintain, and communicate policies and guidelines relating to events throughout the organization.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures for assigned areas of responsibility and maintain existing procedures and standards of excellence for processes and methods.
  • Oversee planning and execution of annual meetings including direction, theme, and content of presentations, awards, guest speakers, and activities. Ensure engagement and alignment with business objectives and core values.
  • Design recognition programs/events that honor and celebrate associates who share and demonstrate the organization’s core values and Global Service Standards.
  • Work with all regional offices to plan and prepare associate-related events. Look for ways to create global programs with local uniqueness.
  • Design and coordinate FirstService Residential’s philanthropic direction and events. Work with outside charitable organizations that align with organizational culture and objectives.
  • Organize, communicate, and promote philanthropic and associate events for all regional offices. Ensure associates at on-site locations and in offices feel included and connected to activities designed for all.
  • Plan, manage, and coordinate all aspects of event logistics.
  • Provide concierge-type services to attendees, volunteers, and staff to ensure a positive experience. Resolve routine and complex issues that arise before and during events.
  • Partner with other departments as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong strategic skills are needed to develop an internal communications strategy, working with executives, members of the Human Resources team, and departmental managers to create an understanding of the company’s goals and values.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills to create content for newsletters, internal websites, and e-mail communications. Effective writing of scripts for executives when presenting information to associates.
  • Collaborative and good team player in working with executives to develop strategy, and delivery of communications and events that promote engagement.
  • Advanced use of technology as well as presentation platforms to leverage technology to appeal to a broad audience.
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Must have excellent proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Proficiency in researching the Internet.
  • Ability to work with sensitive or confidential information.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently and be self-driven
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making ability.
