As a HICOM Team member supporting the ARNG Mission Command Training Support Program (MCTSP) you will be trusted to serve as a highly qualified senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for your Warfighting Function (WFF) and its part of replicating a Higher Command (HICOM), typically in the form of a Division, Corps, or Joint Force Headquarters, during constructive exercises. In this role, you are responsible for coordinating, developing, and executing deliverables and products to simulate a Division, Corps, or Joint Force Headquarters to achieve commander’s training objectives in multi-echeloned environments. A typical day will include:
Act as an advisor, mentor, and SME for Battalion, Brigade and Division Commanders and their staffs.
Provide observations for the conduct of After-Action Reviews (AAR) of Mission Training Complex (MTC) collective events.
Research and compile data and inputs from multiple sources to develop and replicate the desired operating environment (OE) to achieve the commander’s training objectives (i.e. development of orders, scenarios, and script writing).
Providing input and guidance to the HICOM Response Cell to accurately reflect multi-echeloned training events
Coach, teach, and mentor units during the conduct of Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) to assist the commander in achieving training objectives. Provide on-site feedback to unit commanders and appropriate staff members in the form of informational discussions.
Prepares Final Exercise Reports (FER) that address the planning, preparation, and execution of each HICOM Support Team (HST) rotation.
Ensure the Government and contract guidelines, regulations, policies, and standards are compiled to safeguard personnel and GFE.
GDIT is looking four HSTs, each comprised of six personnel to enable the MCTSP to simultaneously support up to four large-scale multi-echelon exercises. Each HST will have SMEs teach, coach, and mentor in the six Warfighting Functions (WFF)—Movement & Maneuver (M2), Mission Command (MC), Intelligence, Fires, Sustainment, and Protection. SMEs that meet the preferred requirements, might qualify for HST Lead positions.
MS/MA degree, subject immaterial
20 years of experience in the Army or ARNG
6 years of combined staff experience within a WWF and served as a Brigade, Division, or Corps primary staff officer within that WWF
Battalion level command experience
MEL 4 or equivalent DoD schooling
2 years experience utilizing the JELC in event/exercise planning
Experience in conducting large-scale Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) exercises
Army Unit Training Management (UTM) background and experience
Combat Training Center experience
Familiar in Army MCIS and training MC principles
Proficient with MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel and others)
Brigade and/or Division level command
MEL 1 or equivalent DoD schooling
A minimum of one year experience in the MCTSP or similar program
Scheduled Weekly Hours:
40 (Will include non-standard work week)
Additional Work Locations:
As required by ARNG Point of Need (PON) training
