Job Description
Lead Manage and Hold Accountable a project controls team
Support the client in holding their contractors accountable, including providing training and learning opportunities related to project estimating and planning where appropriate.
Manage Client relationships and serve as Client's representative for the assigned project with responsibilities for all phases of the Project.
Provides regular briefing to project manager on project financials, schedule status, issues, and concerns
Identify areas for improvement of existing practices and processes and provide solutions to the client for consideration to implement.
Implement client cost control processes develop and monitor an effective system of program/project cost controls
Engage specifically in planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, safety, and coordination of subcontractors and Internal technical and support staff.
Develop project scopes, negotiate hours, prepare reports, develop, and maintain schedules and budgets, and ensure project controls quality reviews are complete.
Preparing monthly analyses and reports on expenditures, progress, commitments, budget performance and schedule performance
Coordinate with project technology experts to develop a project management information system working relevant to the needs of the project
Support risk management activities, including participating in development of a risk register and contingency.
Ensure all required tasks are performed on-time and within budget.
Provide all necessary documents, Information, and monthly reports to Client, as needed.
Identify scheduling and cost variances and recommendations for corrective action for negative variance.
Apply new and creative project controls solutions to complex technical and project management problems.
Resolve issues with contract fulfillment in a timely manner and ensure that all aspects of the program remain on schedule and within budget.
Make work assignments and provide technical direction to the project team.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management preferred
10+ years’ experience in project controls
Excellent leadership skills and experience in preliminary and final design and procedure for mining projects
Experience in preparing project reports and documentation.
Experience in establishing project control systems and procedures.
Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of project management, to coordinate, review and provide expert technical management for the assigned projects.
Knowledge of project controls, including critical path method scheduling and budgetary control systems.
Knowledge and understanding of engineering requirements, program policies, and procedures
Ability to independently organize and carry out assignments with minimum direction as well as to function effectively as a leader of highly professional personnel.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years in Mining + Metals industry
Project Management, schedule or cost management training or certification through Project Management Institute (PMI) or American Association of Cost Engineers (AACE) or other relevant industry organizations.
Knowledge of project controls software such as SAP
Hands on experience with Primavera P6
