TMC, a LinQuest company is seeking a SkillBridge Staff Electrical Engineer Intern to join our team at our office in either Las Cruces, NM or Colorado Springs, CO. The ability to obtain a DoD security clearance is required
SkillBridge Internship Program Qualifications:
Has served at least 180 days on active duty
Is within 12 months of separation or retirement
Will receive an honorable discharge
Have taken any service TAPS/TGPS
Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
Received Unit Commander written authorization and approval to participate in the DoD SkillBride program prior to the start of internship
Description:
The Staff Electrical Engineer will research, develop, plan, and design electrical products and systems. Applies principles and techniques of electrical engineering to complete engineering projects and solve engineering problems in all phases of design, development, integration/ implementation, and analysis, testing and participating in design reviews and evaluations. The Staff Electrical Engineer will study and characterize radio frequency (RF) state-of-the-art technology.
Responsibilities:
Assist in research, design, modify, develop, and evaluate systems, products, components, and applications by applying fundamental electrical engineering principles.
Apply electrical engineering principles in area of system to include RF, power, AC/DC circuit, communications, and software principles.
Confirm system's and components' capabilities by designing testing methods; testing properties and conducts testing events
Assure product quality by designing electrical testing methods; testing finished products and system capabilities.
Troubleshoot and resolve satellite/radio frequency communications systems issues.
Seek opportunities to automate analysis by creating scripts that improve analysis efficiency and effectiveness
Create RF signals on signal analyzers in preparation for test events
Configure test equipment in preparation for “live air” field events
Prepare equipment for load on trailers and shipment to the test environment
Set up emitter sites according to the test plan; establish network controls for remote operation
Test equipment in the field and monitor operations and data collection during test events
Re-deploy equipment to the warehouse and complete recovery checklist; reconfigure and test emitter systems
Help team build micro radios and other hardware-in-the-loop systems that allow dynamic test adjustments
Coordinate with management and/or customers as needed for testing and design reviews
Conduct research and aids in authoring studies.
Develop standards and guidelines for tasks being performed
Prepare necessary engineering documentation, i.e., drawings, project specifications, procedures, etc.
Effectively communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
2+ years experience in electrical engineering
A relevant master’s degree in engineering or science from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two years of relevant work experience.
A relevant PhD degree in engineering or science from an accredited college or university may be substituted for three years of relevant work experience.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
Proficient in Microsoft Office Software Applications
Have strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Engineering experience demonstrated by academic and internship projects
Self-directed and shows initiative but able to take direction from supervision and more senior engineers
Knowledge of RF systems
Knowledge design calculators (cable loss, antenna design, field intensity, etc.)
Basic navigation ability of schematic and wiring diagram software
Skilled use of data collection and management tools such as MATLAB and LabVIEW
Capability to write software routines and macros to automate data processing and analysis
Possesses basic knowledge of shop equipment and their function/use
