Job Specifications

The Measurement Technician ensures the safe and successful installation, maintenance, accuracy, and subsequent repair of company measurement and controls facilities. This includes, but not limited to, electronic measurement devices, SCADA devices, regulators, relief valves, control valves, and various types of physical meters. Required to respond to after-hour callouts due to equipment and/or operational problems and must be willing to work overtime including nights, weekends and holidays.

Pay Range:$31.83 - $44.43 per hour (Determined by the current Collective Bargaining Agreement)

Reporting Relationship:Gas Operations Supervisor

Location:Laramie, Wyoming

• Must be willing to relocate within 35 minutes from their reporting location.

Essential Functions:

• Employs computers, software, and various technological tools to install and service gas measurement instruments, ensuring precise measurement, regulatory compliance. Requires proficient use of computer applications (such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), and other commonly used systems.

• Perform voltage testing, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure safety and functionality of low voltage wiring and components.

• Responsible for implementing and maintaining all phases of mechanical, pneumatic and electronic measurement, and measurement control equipment including the installation, operation, and maintenance of all gas pipeline related facilities.

• Work autonomously under minimal supervision. Working and driving outside in extreme weather conditions is common along with providing emergency response after regular business hours, necessitating the carrying of a company cell phone.

• Perform all work in compliance with Company Standards, procedures, regulatory and tariff requirements, and complete all applicable documentation and record keeping.

• Inspect/oversee the construction and /or maintenance activities performed by third parties.

• Train and oversee company and third-party personnel as required (i.e. personnel in progression, contractors, visitors, etc.).

• Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed.

• Other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of employees and company assets, contractors, and the general public.

• Deal with and speak to, both in person and by telephone, with a wide variety of people using tact, courtesy, and professionalism.

• Performs tasks that are defined as safety-sensitive and is subject to DOT workplace drug & alcohol testing.

What You'll Need:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Natural Gas Utility, or other relevant work experience that has developed equivalent technical/measurement-related skills.

• Valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.

• Must obtain a DOT Medical Certificate as required within 30 Days

• Must be proficient in the use of common software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Candidates should also possess the ability to troubleshoot basic computer issues and have the capacity to learn specialized software applications used in measurement.

• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).

• Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required job schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, along with good verbal and written communication skills.

• Required to achieve and maintain operations qualifications and certifications as required to perform job duties.

• Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines by organizing and prioritizing daily work.

• Ability to perform a range of physical tasks, including but not limited to, sitting, standing, driving, bending or stooping, squatting or crouching, reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50lbs, and typing.

What Is Desired Or Can Be Taught:

• Associate's Degree in a technical or related field

• Working knowledge of AGA measurement standards, National Electric Codes, and ability to apply gas laws.

• General knowledge and experience of regulators, relief valves, and safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids and high-pressure systems.
