Description and Functions

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Under supervision, performs basic construction tasks on and for the highway system.

There are (2) two positions available in Laramie, Wyoming.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.

  • Construction tasks to include performing basic lab tests and survey procedures.

  • Perform construction inspections.

  • Prepare and check computations and data.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference may be given to individuals who can perform algebraic calculations.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of materials testing.

  • Knowledge of surveying methods and equipment operations.

  • Knowledge of construction inspection which includes interpretation of plans and specification.

  • Skill in use of computers.

  • Strong math skills required.

  • Ability to perform algebraic calculations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Necessary Special Requirements

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • This position requires working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

  • Individuals in this classification must be available for emergency work calls at anytime including nights, weekends and holidays, with a response time of no greater than 30 minutes. Acceptance of an appointment to this classification signifies that the individual is aware of this requirement and will comply with it.

NOTES:

  • FLSA: Non-exempt

  • This is a temporary, full-time position that will not exceed 9 months of consecutive employment.

  • All new hires or re-hires starting in a non-exempt position on or after January 1, 2018 are required to be paid hourly.

  • This recruitment will be used to fill 2 positions.
