Job Description

This position has management and statewide oversight responsibility for the development, implementation and sustainability of programs for kinship, foster and adoptive parent recruitment, support and development. This position focuses on meeting the Implementation, Sustainability and Exit Plan (ISEP) and recruitment and retention goals of having an adequate number and sufficient array of foster homes to meet the foster care population. This position has responsibility for program development, evaluation and oversight of updates for all kinship, adoptive and foster parent recruitment and retention matters for MDHHS directors, managers and workers, as well as, community stakeholders, court personnel and private agencies. This position represents MDHHS with internal and external partners including national stakeholders.

Required Education and Experience

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience

Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.

Alternate Education and Experience

Education level typically acquired through completion of high school and two years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 14 level; or, one year of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 15 level, may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.

Position Location/Remote Office: The office location for this position is at235 S. Grand Ave., Lansing, MI. Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered.

Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.

Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:

  • A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.

  • A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.

  • Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
