Oracle Principal Software Development Engineer (OCI) in Lansing, Michigan

Job Description

The Operational Development and Tooling team is responsible for building core internal operational solutions ranging from automation, to building efficient systems to support scalable processes, to providing creative solutions for other Cloud Service Teams in reducing operational load, which ultimately improves the Customer experience. As a Senior Principal Software Engineer in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Operational Observability team, you will work with teams to define and deliver new patters of operating the OCI cloud with high availability. You will architect broad systems interactions, be hands on, and use advanced analytics technologies, including machine learning and predictive modelling, to support the identification of trends, scrape information from unstructured data sources and provide automated recommendations and data driven solutions for technical operational decisions.

Responsibilities

Work with members of the team and lead the architecture, design and development of key features needed to make OCI Observability service successful. Mining and analyzing data from operational data stores using APIs or building ETL pipelines to improve overall business strategies. Develop using Java and frameworks to rapidly build and deploy applications. Data cleaning using programming languages (e.g., Python) Prepare and extract data using programming language, developing A/B testing campaign frameworks and testing model quality. Create advanced machine learning algorithms such as regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees and, neural networks. Creating programming and automation techniques, such as libraries, that simplify day-to-day processes using tools to develop and train machine learning models. Implement new statistical, machine learning, or other mathematical methodologies to solve specific business problems. Raise the bar for engineering quality and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6+ years overall software development experience.

  • Experience in the following programming languages: Java Python

  • 1-2 Years experience working in Kubernetes

  • Prior experience using Terraform

  • Hands-on experience developing services on a public cloud platform (e.g., AWS, Azure, Oracle)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Depth and breadth in quantitative knowledge.

  • Excellent quantitative modeling, statistical analysis skills and problem-solving skills.

  • Sophisticated user of statistical tools.

  • Experience processing, filtering, and presenting large quantities (Millions to Billions of rows) of data.

  • Combination of deep technical skills and business savvy enough to interface with all levels and disciplines within our customer's organization.

  • Experience with Big Data tools such as Redshift, EMR, Spark, etc...

  • Some Machine Learning experience

  • Experience with distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, and relational databases.

  • Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
