Loader Assistant - Afternoons

$18.00/hour

Located in Lansing, MI

Training hours 7:00am-3:00pm. After training Shift Schedule is 11:00am-7:00pm Monday through Friday

$1.00/hour shift premium from 4:00pm-7:00pm = $19.00/hour.

 

Loader Assistant Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Shipping and Receiving Department: Support the shipping and receiving team in various tasks to ensure smooth operations.
  • Quality Control: Verify correct product labeling and packaging to maintain quality standards.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain cleanliness of the site by regularly picking up trash and ensuring a tidy work environment.
  • Cabling and Uncabling Railcar: Assist in the cabling and uncabling of railcars as required for shipping and receiving activities.
  • Auditing Outbound Shipments: Conduct audits on outbound shipments to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Physical Demands: Be on their feet for the entire shift, involving walking and standing, and be capable of working in various weather conditions.

Loader Assistant Qualifications:

  • Fearlessness of Heights: Comfortable working at heights as necessary for the role.
  • Experience in Shipping, Receiving, or Inventory Control: Prior experience in any of these areas is preferred.
  • Ability to Work Independently: Capable of completing tasks and making decisions autonomously.
  • Understanding of Loading Schedule: Ability to comprehend and adhere to loading schedules for efficient shipping operations.
  • Self-Motivated: Driven to excel in the role and take initiative to complete tasks effectively.

This position requires someone who is not only physically capable but also possesses the necessary skills and mindset to contribute to the shipping and receiving processes effectively.

 

Loader Assistant Basic Qualifications: 

  • Language skills to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.   
  • Ability to speak effectively and professionally to customers or employees of organization.
  • Mathematic skills with the ability to calculate figures and amounts using addition, subtraction, multiplication, division. 
  • Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

     

Certifications, Registration Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent.

 

Work Environment:

Industrial/manufacturing work setting.
