Job Purpose

Lead Platform Techno Functional Architect (PTFA), as a subject matter expert of the cloud based SAAS platform for the Human Resources Department, enables the enterprise to leverage the full set of technology capabilities of such a platform to optimize the realization of the business capabilities needed for creating a competitive edge to succeed in the digital ecosystem. PTFA has deep industry knowledge to understand the platform's functional capabilities roadmap over several versions of the platform, experience in the technology architecture of the platform to maximize the use of its advanced technology capabilities including its data/analytics/business event services, and supports Jackson's Business Technology Consulting team in rightsizing the procurement of platform functionalities to maximize the business value from the investments made on the platform. PTFA mentors the Digital Architects by sharing the knowledge and know-how related to the leveraging of the platform's technical and functional/business capabilities to the App/Data/Analytics service delivery teams in optimizing business value from their Digital products. PTFA is responsible for conceptualizing and designing robust and scalable platform deployments that enable strategic objectives and support long-term corporate goals. This role tracks the functional and technical services of the platform and communicate implications of platform architectural decisions to appropriate stakeholders and identify opportunities for reuse. PTFA contributes to the thought leadership that defines and grows the Enterprise Architecture Body of Knowledge of the enterprise in general and the designated platform in particular.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Advises App/Data/Analytics service delivery teams in leveraging the functional and technical capabilities of the designated platform.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert in providing technical and functional solutions for Human Resources.

  • Supports Digital Architects in using the configuration-based software delivery methodology for deploying the platform to optimize its business value for the enterprise.

  • Assesses the compatibility and integration of functionality/data/events/analytics/AI services of the platform to enrich other solutions in the enterprise.

  • Assists in evaluation and recommendation of new technologies and their interoperation with the designated platform.

  • Assists other architects in leveraging the platform capabilities in their assignments.

  • Supports Business Technology Consulting and Vendor Management teams in conducting RFI/RFPs for platform management and recommending appropriate bill of materials in the platform subscription agreement to meet the evolving needs of the enterprise.

  • Champions change management through mentoring and influence.

  • Collaborates in planning initiatives in application development, systems architectures, future roadmaps, operations and strategic planning.

  • Collaborates with infrastructure team to ensure appropriate service levels and security are realized in the operations of the platform.

  • Contributes to and enforces the guardrails and standards in using the platform tools for building solutions that provide business agility.

  • Contributes to the definition of and serves as a subject matter expert for the Architectural Body of Knowledge (frameworks, building blocks, standards, principles, best practices, models, design patterns, strategies, roadmaps, and target states) related to the designated platform.

  • Creates and maintains high level technical documentation to ensure efficient planning and execution.

  • Evaluates and recommends appropriate modes of leveraging platform functionalities and technologies.

  • Facilitates updates, communication, and demonstrations of functional and technical capabilities of the platform through showcases.

  • Leads planning initiatives in platform roadmaps, implementation, version migrations and fine tuning operations to realize business value.

  • Leads the definition of architectural frameworks, building blocks, standards, principles, best practices, models, design patterns, strategies, roadmaps, and target states related to the platform.

  • Maintains general knowledge of multiple major systems in the business function areas supported by the designated platform.

  • Manages expectations and requirements of architecture project stakeholders.

  • Mentors less experienced team members.

  • Possesses knowledge and expertise in enterprise transformation concepts, practices, methods, principles and an understanding of evolving industry trends, practices and standards.

  • Promotes reuse and application of the reference architecture to the platform architecture.

  • Reviews and may contribute to the development of specifications for new platform deployment and modification of products/applications/systems that leverage the capabilities of the platform.

  • Utilizes architecture deliverable templates, populating solution or enterprise architecture documents for the designated platform, clearly articulating goals, constraints, and rationale for all architecturally significant decisions related to the platform.

  • Works with senior management to establish platform related technology standards.

  • Expert knowledge of multiple solution architecture viewpoints (application design, infrastructure design, data design, integration design).

  • Expert knowledge of solutions modeling.

  • Expert presentation skills.

  • For architects assigned to all domains except business, mastery of at least two of the following languages: JAVA, COBOL, C++, Perl, SQL, etc.

  • Knowledge of architecture tools and processes (reference architecture maintenance, standards maintenance, technology portfolio rationalization, RFI/RFP support, Enterprise Architecture governance, project architecture support).

  • Knowledge of business architecture skills: business case building, scenario & process modeling, strategic planning, visioning, and business metrics.

  • Knowledge of two or more of the following: web services, IT infrastructure, systems, and/or commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) systems.

  • Mastery of development methodologies, tools and software engineering.

  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects in a changing technical environment.

  • Successful completion of an analytical aptitude exam.

  • Successful creation and implementation of n-tier architecture solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent education required.

  • 4+ years of solutions by delivering over full life cycle the one or more versions of the designated platform. required.

  • 6 years experience with HR systems such as Workday, Workhuman, Glint, SumTotal. Workday experience required.

  • 10+ years of overall systems design and implementation experience required.

  • Cross functional experience within Human Resources on aspects of Talent Management, Compensation & Benefits Management, Recruiting Management, and HR Analytics.

  • Experience in implementing solution in Financial services or B2B/B2C based digital marketing or insurance industry preferred.

  • Experience in software design and implementation for moderate to complex systems required.
