Job Description
This position serves as the state-wide specialist that leads engagement and relationship-building efforts with communities across Michigan. The Community Engagement Specialist will lead in coordinating efforts across EGLE divisions and offices; it will facilitate meetings with EGLE staff and local communities to work collaboratively around EGLE issue areas and programs. This position will be responsible for developing community engagement training programs and resources for EGLE staff. The Community Engagement Specialist will liaise with other divisions to leverage data, resources, and other tools to support crafting and implementing equitable community engagement strategies, developing presentations, and identifying new internal and external partners.
This position identifies and tracks public engagement opportunities and develops and maintains outreach materials and resources that will be distributed by EGLE program staff. The position works in tangent with EGLE staff to coordinate and host a variety of both in-person and online outreach activities. The Community Engagement Specialist will also develop and implement public education workshops, community learning sessions, fact sheets, FAQs, and talking points for a variety of public and leadership meetings.

The work location of this position will be Constitution Hall in Lansing, MI. However, the selected candidatemaybe eligible for a hybrid work schedule (combination of remote and in-person). Employees approved for schedules that include remote work must complete that work within Michigan.Relocation expenses are not reimbursed. When working remote, employees must use a designated workspace that is safe and professionally appropriate, allows for privacy, minimizes distractions, and includes secure internet access. Details regarding work location and schedule options for this position may be discussed during the interview process.
Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
Experience
Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.

Vacation and Sick Leave:Eligible full-time employees receive between15 and 35 personal daysand 13 sick daysper year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.
Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
Bonus Programs:Eligible employees with five years of service also receive annual longevity bonuses that grow as seniority increases. Some positions also may qualify for recruitment, retention, and performance bonuses or other special pay premiums.
Military Pay Differential:Employees in the guard or reserves may also qualify for supplemental pay benefits if miliary pay during qualifying duty is less than normal state pay.
