AmeriCorps Support Trainer - Summer

Peckham is a mission-driven, award-winning social enterprise where we strive to provide world-class vocational rehabilitation to persons with disabilities and/or barriers to employment while providing excellent customer service to a diverse range of customers.   Peckham’s AmeriCorps Program is looking for members to join us this summer. This condensed summer service term May-September will support and provide individualized coaching to clients including people with disabilities, refugees, and low-income individuals . This role is heavily involved in training for financial literacy, resume building, intervie w prep, and other skills to help clients succeed. The AmeriCorps program members will also actively engage with community partners and participate in civic engagement activities. There are openings in multiple locations across Michigan, including: Lansing, Grand Rapids, and Flint .

Summer program living allowance: $6,617.64 (Pre-tax)

    ​ MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide comprehensive coaching to clients, focusing on financial literacy, employability skills, and adult education.

  • Set individualized goals to help clients improve their skills.

  • Communicate daily with Peckham staff through verbal and written updates on clients' progress towards their goals.

  • Collaborate with community partners to arrange on-site classes and connect clients with community services.

  • Support partner-led financial literacy classes.

  • Provide classroom instruction as required or assigned.

  • Record service activities as per program requirements, utilizing multiple databases.

  • Offer 1:1 support for Peckham Talent Development staff-led employability classes, including Adult Education.

  • Travel to satellite locations in Greater Lansing for English and adult education coaching to Peckham clients.

  • Coordinate and participate in Michigan’s AmeriCorps and National Days of Service events.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma

  • Reliable transportation

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates or higher

  • Experience with training, coaching , mentoring , or customer service
