Essential Duties/Responsibilities :

  • Conducts effective, thorough, and objective internal investigations and maintains appropriate documentation in accordance with HR and Legal requirements. Partners with HR partners, Legal Counsel and other relevant leaders as necessary to complete investigations and make recommendations.

  • Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations related to HR/employment law and ensures policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance. In partnership with the HR leadership team, this position may propose or review recommendations to company policy and support the development of compliance programs, policies, reporting and best practices for the organization.

  • Ensures HR processes are aligned and support the business/corporate objectives. Keeps team informed of changes in HR policies and procedures and counsel managers and employees on those changes.

  • Develops and conducts management training on harassment and discrimination, employment law, ADA, performance reviews, discipline, terminations, ethics, and other relevant company policies and/or regulations.

  • Provides coaching, mentoring and guidance to HR generalists, management, and other staff through investigations and determining outcomes in partnership with HR, Legal and Business leaders.

  • Serves as point of escalations in the execution of collective bargaining strategies and labor relations functions including dispute resolution and application of contract language.

  • Analyzes ER information and data necessary to report to HR and/or Business leadership; make recommendations based on data trends on policy or business practice changes.

  • Assist HR team with labor relations; may participate in contract negotiations, union meetings and arbitrations as needed.

  • Manage compliance-related reporting and survey responses as needed.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Employee Relations, Business or other related field.

Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in HR or related field; 5-7 years of experience with complex employee relations & investigations.

  • Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred; union/collective bargaining experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to anticipate people impact.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required – both written and verbal. Executive presence and ability to present recommendations to Executives clearly and concisely.

  • Thorough understanding of state and federal laws concerning employment law and labor relations.

  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.

  • Thorough understanding of negotiation techniques, dispute resolution and demonstrated ability to remain tactful, calm, and objective in controversial and/or confrontational situations.
