Job Title: Chemical Process Operator
Location: Lancaster, Texas
Job Type: Temporary to Hire; Full-Time
Pay : $24/Hr.
We are seeking a skilled Chemical Process Operator to control equipment systems that process chemical substances and blended materials into specified products. The ideal candidate will be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the manufacturing and packaging field. This role relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish safety, quality, and production goals. The position requires the ability to multi-task and be self-sufficient.
Responsibilities
Operate equipment units and/or semiautomatic systems that process chemical substances into industrial or consumer products.
Transfer specified amounts of materials into heating vessels or blending tanks; turn valves to feed liquid and gaseous materials through equipment units or set controls in specified sequence on control panel to start automatic feed.
Adjust controls to maintain system at specified temperature, pressure, and vacuum levels.
Monitor chemical reactions, gauges, signals, and recorders; receive notifications from the control laboratory, supervisor, or other workers to make specified operating adjustments.
Receive raw materials for the production process and assist with quality confirmation and inventory maintenance, including barge, railcar, tank truck, tote/drum quantities.
Load finished products for transport to customers, including barge, railcar, tank truck, tote/drum quantities.
Draw samples of products for laboratory analysis.
Maintain logs of gauge readings, process rounds, and shift production.
Complete appropriate quality, security, and shipping paperwork for associated loads and materials.
Perform chemical tests on products to ensure conformance with specifications, using standard test equipment, materials, and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Position Qualifications and Physical Demands
Certification on assorted mobile equipment (forklift, heavy equipment) is required.
Basic computer and math literacy.
Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to read and write in English.
Mechanically inclined with the ability to operate plant equipment.
Detail-oriented with a safety-first approach to all tasks.
Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (i.e., respirators, Tyvek suits, protective boots, hearing protection, etc.).
Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear, or smell. Frequently required to walk and stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment with exposure to chemicals.
Must pass pre-employment drug screen, fit for duty test, and background check.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required.
1+ years of previous plant/operations experience preferred.
