Lame Deer Public Schools Testing Coordinator and Instructional Coach (TCIC) in Lame Deer, Montana

Purpose: The Testing Coordinator/Instructional Coach, having both content and instructional expertise, will work as a colleague with classroom teachers to support student learning and teacher practice. The TCIC willfocus on individual and group professional learning that will expand and refine the understanding aboutevidence-based effective instruction for teachers. In order to meet this purpose, the TCIC will provide personalized, 1:1 support based on the goals, student assessment data, and identified needs of individual teachers.Responsible to:Building Principal and Curriculum CoordinatorPayment Rate: According to Certified Teacher Salary ScheduleEmployment Term: 9 MonthQualifications:1) Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university2) Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.3) Current Montana Teaching License.4) Demonstrated knowledge of the Montana Content Standards and the Montana ComprehensiveAssessment System5) Experience in evidence-based instructional practices.6) Previous coaching or teacher leadership experience7) Deep knowledge of and experience in:a) Instructional strategiesb) Conditions of Learningc) Assessment driven instruction (teaching/learning process)d) Curriculum development8) Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills for building an environment with acommon instructional focus, promoting initiatives, and conveying expectations9) Ability to design and deliver quality professional development for administrators and teachers10) Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills11) Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing12) Demonstrated strength in organization, communication skills and efficiency in meeting deadlines13) Demonstrated ability to function as a positive collaborative member of a team.General Responsibilities:1) Communicate and demonstrate evidence-based instructional practices that result in improved studentoutcomes.2) Provide organized, individual and/or group learning opportunities for teachers as needed.3) Provide individualized, classroom-based coaching with participants to support them in implementinggood instructional practices.4) Provide support in analyzing student assessment data.5) Assist teachers with designing instructional decisions based on assessment data.6) Provide support for classroom motivation and management strategies.7) Assist teachers in creating pacing guides, unit plans, and unit assessments that are aligned with essentialcontent standards in the curriculum.8) Provide teachers resources related to instruction and curriculum.9) Help in researching instructional and/or curriculum issues.10) Provide encouragement and emotional support to teachers.11) Encourage ongoing professional growth for all teachers.12) Work positively toward meeting identified district and building improvement goals.13) Assist with development of district curriculum, instruction, and assessments.14) Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with teachers.15) Possess an understanding of when to contact administrators regarding issues ofsafety/ethics involving students in the classroom observed.16) Assist teachers in aligning their teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum andassessments.17) Assist building staff with the gathering, examination and analysis of formative andsummative assessment data to identify learning concerns for individual students and groupsof students. Provides instructional support that is responsive to the identified needs ofstudents and provides coaching support that is responsive to identified needs of staff.18) Assist principals in monitoring and documenting instruction and assessment status andprogress of new teachers and/or teachers with identified needs.19) Serve as support for the school and classroom levels in the implementation, monitoring, andimprovement of the Multi-Tiered System of Support.20) Assure that students with disabilities are given appropriate testing instruments andaccommodations.21) Compile and deliver test data to teachers in a timely manner and ensure that scores are entered intothe data management system (Infinite Campus).22) Track student/teacher assessment data per unit, quarter, semester, and year and report datato administration in a timely manner.23) Have the ability to lead the staff in improving student achievement levels24) Coordinate with school counselors and local colleges for the administration of ACT, ASVAB,and any other entrance exams.25) Keeps current on appropriate assessment methods and best practices with reference to testprocedures.26) Ability to work with the Montana Office of Public Instruction to follow assessment mandates.27) Ability to organize and schedule District-wide assessment calendar.28) Ability to organize and maintain district assessment data.Evaluation:Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s evaluation policy.Mental/Motor Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely performs routine work.
