Salary Range

$95K to $120K

A Brief Overview

The Analyst, Apps Dev will be responsible for evaluating, designing, developing, enhancing and maintaining mainframe applications software and processes. Will participate in all stages and tasks necessary as a member of a successful project team. Will be responsible for the promotion and validation of code as it is moved through the development lifecycle and in supporting changes after they are implemented. Will participate in after-hours and on-call support and perform problem investigation and resolution in coordination with other developers and other teams.

What you will do

  • Perform coding, testing and maintenance on both existing and new programs and processes

  • Pursue educational opportunities to expand knowledge and improve skills through workshops, classes, seminars, and bank operations training

  • Contribute to design of various size projects

  • Support certain applications with assistance as needed

  • Participate in after-hours and on-call support rotation

  • Majority of time spent on technical issues such as coding, testing, and maintenance

  • Handle critical problems with supervision

  • Manage small to medium-sized projects from analysis through implementation (this includes development of hours estimates, establishing and meeting project due dates)

  • Work with vendors under supervision

  • Work with managers and other developers to maintain the Programming Standards Manual and other application manuals

  • Make suggestions for improving the development process

  • Maintain proper documentation

  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned

  • Understand and comply with all provisions of the Safety in the Workplace policy

Minimum Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum of 2 years of related experience

  • A combination of post-high school education, job related certification and related experience equivalent to 5 years may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, other technical field, or business preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good problem solving skills

  • Good customer service skills

  • IMS Database knowledge

  • Experience as a Mainframe Systems Programmer

  • Good organizational skills allowing for the work on multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Demonstrated ability to define, design, code, test and implement efficient, quality programs, both batch and on-line, for small projects

  • Intermediate knowledge of COBOL, JCL, and CICS command level environment

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills

  • Technical understanding of FirstBank’s mainframe environment

  • Working knowledge of information security concepts

  • Working knowledge of the FirstBank change control process

  • Working knowledge of the FirstBank development methodology

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Frequently remains stationary throughout a typical business day

  • Frequently operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer

  • Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and other rooms

  • Occasionally positions self to access drawers and shelves of various heights

  • Frequently reaches for and handles paperwork and files

  • Constantly communicates with customers, coworkers, and management in-person and on the phone

  • Must be able to exchange accurate information

  • FirstBank does not currently offer fully remote positions, except as required by law. The actual number of in-office days that may be required will vary by business unit, role, and business need
