Midwest Veterinary Supply Inc Accounts Payable Team Lead in Lakeville, Minnesota

Midwest Veterinary Supply is seeking a Accounts Payable Team Lead for our Lakeville, Minnesota corporate office. Job Summary: This position is an essential part of the Company's Accounts Payable (A/P) team. We are looking for an individual who will provide supervision, coaching, training, and development of our reception and A/P team as well as assisting with processing both inventory and non-inventory invoices and credit memos.. This role will work closely with and will have regular interactions with employees, departments and vendors across the country to ensure transactions are processed timely and accurately, attainment of early pay discounts are accomplished, inquiries are resolved within a reasonable timeframe, and price or quantity variances are investigated and corrected. Essential Job Functions: Work closely with employees and vendors as point of contact for escalated issues related to invoices, discrepancies, and payment issues. Follow-up on material and consistent purchase price and/or quantity variances between purchase orders and invoices, to ensure only valid amounts due are remitted to vendors. Monitor all held and closed RPO's to ensure receipt of credit memos or replacement product is done in a timely manner. Maintain vendors including adding new, inactivating, removing duplicates and making changes to vendors. Review monthly vendor statements and reconcile the accrued payables account to ensure invoices are received and processed in the appropriate accounting period. Assist with yearly audit as necessary. Match invoices and credit memos to purchase orders for product received or returned (buy/sell, agency and drop ship); enter invoices and credit memos into accounts payable in a timely manner to enable utilization of early pay discounts where applicable. Process and code non-inventory invoices and credit memos. Maintain orderly filing and control of invoices and credit memos prior to payment. Maintain documentation of invoices and credit memos through scanning, indexing and filing. Provide supervision, coaching, training and development of Accounts Payable personnel. Participate in interview process for new hires, performance reviews and setting of employee goals and objectives for existing staff. Evaluate existing procedures for operational efficiencies and make suggestions for improvement. Help implement department projects. Job Requirements & Qualifications: Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily 2-year Accounting degree in Accounting is preferred Five years preferred of work experience in an accounts payable environment that utilizes a PO system for inventory purchases Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to read, write and speak English Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, employment policies, operating instructions, and procedural manual. Ability to work well with others and independently Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to 10-key accurately and efficiently Intermediate experience with email and spreadsheet applications Mental & Physical Demands: Attention to detail to assure accuracy Analytical ability Regular interaction with people, team-player Potential for stress related to typical problem resolution processes Frequent deadlines may result in a fast pace of work and stress Continuous use of hands for writing and computer keyboard use Continuous use of a computer monitor requiring close vision Frequent use of a telephone - listening and speaking Ability to work at a desk throughout the day Job duties and requirements may be subject to modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities. Work Environment: Work will be performed indoors in a relatively temperature controlled climate where moderate heat, cold or humidity may be experienced. Moderate exposure to dust and dirt may also be expected. Work will typically be performed Monday through Friday and may require overtime.
