The Associate Product Marketing Manager is responsible for assisting in the management of the National Hardware product portfolio, from product inception through end of life. Through the help of a robust strategic planning and product development process, this individual will contribute heavily to new product ideation and innovation, manufacturing specifications, data governance, marketing strategies, sales commercialization, and promotional opportunities. You will manage products through development milestones and work with a cross-functional team of sales, channel, engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, finance, & quality professionals in bringing your new innovations to life.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • (55%) - New Product Development (NPI)

  • Supports cross-functional team (engineering, sourcing, demand planning, finance, & documentation) through multiple on-going product development projects at various stages of development.

  • Develops product road direction, manages research initiatives to establish fact-based business and marketing strategy development.

  • Understands market, channel and/or customer dynamics, product design, trends, and end –user preferences and purchase drivers. Expected to provide key strategic inputs and execute efficiently as driven by budget and timing. Communicate and apply results and/or conclusions.

  • Effectively manages documentation to create new SKUs and all data points including weights and dimensions, list pricing, UPCs, etc.

  • Utilizes sales data to make recommendations on aisle changes in retailer product sets & participates in research & preparation for customer line reviews.

  • (35%) - Portfolio Maintenance

  • Supports brand guidelines to insure consistency, with specific influence on packaging, merchandising, and collateral related to assigned projects.

  • Coordinates meeting materials for customer product collaboration, line reviews and business reviews. Includes but not limited to product samples, display materials, research, and P&L builds.

  • Works with quality and brand to support installation workshops, videos, and related initiatives.

  • Works with sourcing to implement changes & improvements in our supply network for new & existing products.

  • Analyzes data to make annual price increase and SKU rationalization recommendations.

  • (10%) – Commercialization

  • Prepares creative briefs which communicate the commercialization support needed to support the given launch

  • Submits creative requests through our project management software

  • Provides direction cross-functionally on proper messaging points and graphics, along with product attributes and specifications to support sales & channel efforts.

  • Supports channel marketing on off-shelf promotions and point-of-purchase display art

  • Provide support on special projects as assigned.

    Education and Experience Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications or related field is required.

  • Minimum 3+ years marketing or relevant experience within the home improvement industry or consumer packaged goods company (CPG/FMG). Builder’s hardware knowledge a plus.

  • P&L Management – experience understanding a product portfolio or business P&L; constant management of sku level and category level profitability

  • Project Management – ability to successfully manage several initiatives/projects simultaneously; able to motivate cross-functional team members regardless of function or tenure.

  • Data driven decision making – must have experience utilizing market research methods and tools and translating findings into solutions and strategies.

  • Item master data and content creation – Demonstrated experience with managing large data sets without error.

  • Process oriented – Excellent ability in following protocols and identifying improvements to existing processes.

    Work Environment

  • This role is hybrid with in-office work from our Lake Forest, California location required Tuesday through Thursday every week.

  • Able to travel domestically and internationally, as needed – approximately 3-5 trips per year.

    Pay Range: $70,601-$103,548.

    This “base salary range” is a reasonable estimate for this position at the time of posting. Pay within each range is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, to primary work job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location. ASSA ABLOY conducts regular review of compensation ranges and therefore reserves the right to alter this range at any given time.
