Project Overview:
Louisiana LNG is located approximately 11 miles southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The project includes a mid-scale, mixed-refrigerant Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on the west side of the Calcasieu River. There are five identical process plants. Each process plant consists of one gas pre-treatment unit, one condensate stabilization unit, and four Chart heavy hydrocarbon (HHC) removal and liquefaction groups. The facility will include associated utilities, refrigerant storage, three 235,000m3 full-containment LNG storage tanks, and three marine berths.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on a project. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate subcontract work activities and team development. Your oversight will ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and job site work rules and procedures, and perform within specifications, schedules and budgets. #LI-TH1
Major Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing safe tank and roof erection operations.
Ensures safe construction practices and that Bechtel and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility.
Provides leadership for safety and accident prevention programs on the project. Prepare safety procedures and monitor Bechtel and subcontractor safety meetings, inspect the site for unsafe conditions and practices and take appropriate corrective action to correct all observed problems, lead weekly tool box safety meetings.
Responsible for the implementation of project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned operations. Ensures current design documents are used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation. Monitors work activities to ensure the safety and quality of work performed and compliance with project specifications.
Determines tank builder workforce requirements in consultation with Tank project management. Plans, controls and supervises work to be performed by direct hire manpower and adherence to contract schedule..
Reviews work accomplished by each craft team in order to meet the schedule and targets. Prepares reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
Coordinates activities with other discipline superintendents or area superintendents and clients' resident representatives, as instructed by the Tank project management.
Responsible for scheduling and supervision of personnel in assigned area of responsibility.
Ensures subordinate personnel receive progressive training to enable them to assume additional responsibilities.
Overviews and monitors construction methods and procedures providing constructability input.
Monitors construction equipment, tool utilization and maintenance to ensure that the workforce are able to perform the work safely and efficiently.
Maintain good relationships with the client and their representatives, as assigned.
Performs general administrative functions inherent in jobsite supervisory positions such as Weekly Reports, timekeeping and progress reporting.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Level 1
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Level 2
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge and experience applicable to dome roof, cone roof, floating roof and wastewater open top tank construction methods required including knowledge of carbon steel and preferably 9% Ni steel tank erection/welding, roof construction and air raises.
Knowledgeable of the major Codes relative to Tank/Pressure VesselErection, e.g. API-650, API-620, ASME Section VIII.
Advanced knowledge/familiarity with Tank building equipment and tools.
Ability to train less experienced employees in the fundamentals of Tank and Roof erection.
Ability to work effectively in union environment.
Ability to organize & formulate long range plans.
Good communication skills and ability to effectively communicate plans to subordinates.
Additional Information: Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
