ITW Assistant Buyer in Lake Bluff, Illinois

The Assistant Buyer is responsible for upholding the Kanban Purchasing System and point of contact between Buehler and the vendor/supplier for order management

  • Initiates daily collaboration with Warehouse & Production teams to implement all visual controls to comply with MRD and In-lining corporate guidance such as using Kanban cards, 2 bin system, FIFO, Safety Stock, adequate parts identification, storage at point of use, color coding for inventory levels, standard package, etc.

  • Daily management and execution of full PO cycle: issuing POs, pulling in and pushing out POs in a timely manner, expediting past due POs, and following through with vendors to ensure POs due within two weeks arrive on time

  • Proactively identifies and escalates supply & quality issues to the Sr. Buyer when there is a risk of stopping production, impacting customer shipments, or generating significant financial impact

  • Works in tandem with Sr. Buyer to support assigned production lines

  • Continuously runs and analyzes open order reports to manage the purchasing process

  • Maintains data integrity within Buehler's ERP system and uses the system as the primary tool for the procurement process

  • Updates and maintains the information on all assigned item cards

  • Associates degree in supply chain, business, operations or related field (or equivalent in experience)

  • 1-3 years experience purchasing in a low volume/high mix manufacturing environment required

  • Experience in ERP based procurement systems and reporting tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify business process issues and drive process improvement

  • Open-minded self-starter with the ability to adapt, improvise, and multi-task

  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks and projects with various stakeholders

  • Superior leadership, interpersonal and influencing skills. Experience initiating and developing relationships and management skills

  • Strong communication and presentation skills (both verbal and written)

  • Proficiency in Excel is a must

  • Advanced organizational ability, planning and prioritization skills.

  • Results-oriented with creative problem-solving capabilities
