The Controller will be a full-time employment opportunity and will be located in the Laguna Niguel, California region. This role's duties will require planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. What you get to do every single day
Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Ensure deliverables of self and team meet client expectations
Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis
Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners
Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities Requirements - Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
Skilled in analytical, quantitative and social skills
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Sound written and verbal communication skills
Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Fund accounting experience highly desired
Strong familiarity with Corporate Accounting
Cam Reconciliation experience
People Management experience preferred
Commercial real estate experience required
Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
