Job Description

Summary: The Quality Laboratory Technicians play a vital role in the overall Quality Assurance/Quality Control functions. Candidates will primarily work with sweeteners, corn syrups, and sugar products. They will process these into corn sweeteners (high fructose corn syrup) and sugar and starches for human and animal feed. The chemistry side of the lab works with the corn, and the micro side of the lab works with sweeteners. A lot of the work involves performing extractions and 'wetmills' on liquid products.

The Quality Laboratory Technicians analyze both final product and in-process sample streams utilizing HPLC, AA, GC, FT-IR, NIR, titration, refractive index, particle size distribution, direct and viable micro testing, pH, spectrophotometric methods, microscopic examination as well as physical testing. Must be detail-oriented, a self-starter, and capable of producing high-quality results consistently with minimal oversight. As a Quality Laboratory Technician, candidates will be responsible for the following:

• Preparation and analysis of various final product and in-process samples utilizing analytical instruments and wet chemistry techniques

• Facilitate the plant process flow by providing timely, accurate analysis results

• Posting analysis results into data systems and communicating to plant personnel

• Recognizing abnormal findings and working with process teams to resolve

• Final QA/QC of outbound shipments and documenting results

• Following established analysis methodologies

• Basic laboratory equipment maintenance

• Supporting other departments with analytical and project-based efforts on an ad hoc basis

• Ensuring adherence to all company policies and procedures

• Understanding and demonstrating core values and actively participating

• Supporting a 24/7 process and working a rotating shift, which will include nights, weekends, and holidays

• Advancement through the skill block system and achieving 4 'operate' skill blocks along with the 'basic' skill block

• Performing other duties as assigned

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Lafayette, Indiana.

Work Environment

Candidates will work 12-hour shifts, 3 on and 3 off, rotating between night and day shift (e.g., 5a-5p for 3 days, off 3 days, then 5p-5a for 3 days, off 3 days). They need to be comfortable standing for extended periods of time. Candidates may wear jeans and a t-shirt to work.
