JBS USA HEAD OF SALES in Lafayette, Colorado

Planterra is a fully funded Plant-Based Protein start-up. It’s an investment by the JBS Company, the world’s largest protein producer and the second largest food company in the world.

We are seeking experienced candidates for a Head of Sales leadership role based in Lafayette, CO. Reporting to the CEO, this role will be responsible for the retail and food service sales strategy and execution as we continue to launch our Ozo products.


  • Relentless pursuit of Planterra’s mission, our essential customer partnerships and providing access for shoppers/consumers

  • Provide customer leadership and consultant services relating to product offerings

  • Ensure customer objectives/concerns are handled professionally and needs are fully met

  • Promote the integration of processes between customers and Planterra

  • Serve as a key consultant to executive leadership on quality specifications and cost modeling of customer products to ensure customer satisfaction and market success

  • Conduct regular reviews of sales activities and implement corrective actions or offer suggestions as needed

  • Mentor and manage the sales team, drive performance to operating goals

  • Oversee implementation of pricing, packaging and promotions programs, including:

  • Ongoing program integrity

  • Achievement of target yields

  • Maintain inventory and customer fill rates

  • Ensure pricing integrity

  • Protect and grow Planterra’s positive professional reputation

  • Work collaboratively with other functional areas on projects and innovation

  • Responsible for financial accountability and P&L including:

  • Gross through Net sales and customer profitability

  • Create and approve budgets, review/control expenses, and maximize profit


  • 10+ years sales and account management experience, preferably with perishable commodity or CPG products

  • Must have managed P&L

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively internally and externally with all levels

  • Holistic knowledge of product sales and the retail model from supplier to consumer, including an understanding the implications of process change to customer and company financials

  • Experience formulating and implementing strategic plans, policies, goals, and objectives to increase company market share, growth and profitability

  • Success leading a team in a fast paced, growth-oriented environment

  • Prior experience successfully supporting retailer market share expansion in existing market or to capture separate/new market share

  • Ability to manage customer objectives

  • Proven successful customer relationship management

  • Willingness to travel (approximately 30-40%)

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment

  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and company observed holidays

  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule

  • Base salary range of $220,000-270,000

  • This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program
