Kadiak LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, has multiple openings for qualified and experienced Medical Laboratory Technicians to support Kadiak and our government customer at Joint Base San Antonio, Lackland, TX.

Successful candidates will play a crucial role in supporting our medical facilities by performing a wide range of laboratory tests and maintaining high standards of quality control.
Qualifications:
Must have a minimum of an Associate Degree in a biological or chemical science or medical laboratory technology from an institution accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or educational program acceptable to the American Medical Technologist (AMT)
Minimum of 12 months of experience within the past 36 months
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT), or state licensure as a medical laboratory technician
Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation, and Criminal History Background Check (CHBC)
Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Workers by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Core Duties:
Perform a full range of clinical laboratory tests in various sections including hematology, chemistry, cytology, histotechnology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology, and blood bank
Determine specimen suitability for analysis and prepare specimens accordingly
Prepare reagents and primary reference materials as necessary
Calibrate, standardize, adjust, and maintain laboratory instruments
Conduct quality control procedures on equipment, reagents, and products
Prepare specimens for transport or mail/ship out
Handle and dispose of biological waste properly
Report unusual or grossly abnormal test results to section supervisor, pathologist or laboratory supervisor
Perform light general cleaning of work areas
Assist in the preparation of laboratory reports
Record test results to flat logs and request slips and file reports in the MHS Genesis.
Accession and order laboratory testing in MHS Genesis for clinic patients.
Perform basic front desk administrative tasks, greet patients warmly, log-in lab orders, provide sample collection instructions, perform phlebotomy, and process patient samples for laboratory testing.
Additional Responsibilities:
Verify correct instrument operation and identify/resolve common problems
Obtain and correlate analytical data
Maintain proper records for quality control and quality assurance reports
Report unusual or abnormal test results to supervisors
Screen/order officer training school accessions for required testing (JBSA-L specific)
Additional Requirements:
Successful candidates must be Up to date on immunizations
Annual Flu immunizations are required

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.
The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
