The Water Quality Program *within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a *Senior Water Quality General Permit Writer (Environmental Specialist 5) position. This position is locatedin our *Headquarters Office in* *Lacey, WA.{rel="nofollow"} Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.

 

Play a crucial role in finalizing and implementing one of the Water Quality Program's largest general permits as a senior program expert! You will be responsible for writing and helping to defend the Industrial Stormwater General Permit, which is currently out for public comment. You will respond to comments, and integrate any relevant comments into the final permit. You will interpret the active/effective general permit, contribute your expertise to a larger group of water quality permit writers, and lead a Permit Implementation Team. 

 

Additionally, you will serve as the chair the Water Quality Program's General Permit Writers' Workgroup, where you will work with a meeting facilitator and the workgroup to establish best practices, work together towards common goals, troubleshoot issues, and guide the ongoing development of a General Permit Writer's guide. In this role, you will move forward guidance chapters towards finalization, which will ensure consistency and continuity for our permits and permit writers. 

 

You will also collaborate closely with regional colleagues, industry and non-governmental organizations, and other interested parties.

Telework options for this position: *This position will have flexibility of a hybrid schedule, empowering work from home and office, providing less time in traffic and shrinking your carbon footprint. This position will be eligible for up to a 90% telework schedule with the expectation of working in the office one day every two weeks. *
