The Environmental Assessment Program{rel="nofollow"}* (EAP) within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill an *Environmental Technician position. This position is locatedin our *Headquarters Office in* *Lacey, WA.{rel="nofollow"} Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.

In this position, you will support field studies in Washington rivers and streams that monitor freshwater quality, streamflow, and related analyses. You will gain experience in field data collection and analyses for discrete and continuous stream monitoring activities. Your work will support pollution control plans and mathematical models for water quality and surface water hydrology. This is an exciting opportunity to learn and use the safety, quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) tools and standard operating procedures developed by the Freshwater Monitoring Unit (FMU) and Modeling/TMDL Unit (MTU) in Ecology's Western Operations Section. You will work with staff from both the Freshwater Monitoring Unit (FMU) and Modeling/TMDL Unit (MTU) with opportunities to learn from several experts in water quality and quantity monitoring.

Tele-work options for this position: *This position will have flexibility of a hybrid schedule, empowering work from home and office, providing less time in traffic and shrinking your carbon footprint. This position is eligible for telework for the in-office portion of work. Staff will need to report to the office regularly to prepare for and participate in field work. Field work occurs throughout the year on regularly scheduled intervals and as needed to complete field tasks. Teleworking staff will need to periodically work in the office to accomplish certain tasks. *Applicants with questions about position location options, tele-work, and flexible or compressed schedules are encouraged to reach out to the contact person listed below in "other information."
