The Washington State Department of Ecology has an incredible opportunity for an experienced strategic thinker to manage and lead our agency's financial team. The Department of Ecology serves the public by protecting, preserving, and enhancing the environment for current and future generations. Ecology's Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plays a key role in accomplishing this mission by managing the agency's $3 billion biennial operating and capital budgets.   Ecology's fiscal team members work together with a high degree of camaraderie to oversee one of the most complex financial structures in state government. The CFO and team members set the direction for responsible budgeting with a focus on achieving equitable outcomes through our strategic budgeting decisions. The CFO also oversees contracts and purchasing, payroll, accounts payable, revenue and receivables, general accounting, and financial systems. 

 

The CFO engages extensively with legislators, legislative staff, members of the Governor's Office, the Office of Financial Management, and Ecology's many partner groups. As a member of Ecology's Executive Leadership Team, the CFO is part of the decision-making body for a wide range of policy and operational decisions.       This is an exciting and rewarding position for someone who understands that budget is policy and who wants to be part of a team committed to protecting Washington's water, land, air, and climate. We hope you'll consider joining our team!       This position is located at our Headquarters Building in Lacey, Washington{rel="nofollow"}. Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station. 

This position is an Exempt Management Service (EMS) Band IV position. The minimum and maximum salary for EMS Band IV positions is $93,036 - $160,308.
