As the Customs Specialist, you will be the SME (Subject Matter Expert) in the NICH Customs CoC (Center of Competence) for all Customs related matters (Customs rulings, customs audits, C1 management, strategic stocks management, etc.). You will will ensure compliance with Nestlé's Import/Export Processes and act as the technical expert in discussions with external stakeholders. The Customs Specialist will also be accountable for accurate monthly IPR/OPR declarations and the robustness of the C1 process for all Nestlé entities in Switzerland in Switzerland.

A Day in the Life of the Customs Specialist

  • Provides technical assistance in interpretation of laws/regulations, product description, harmonized tariff codes, country of origin and for the resolution of all import/export compliance issues for NCH

  • Works internally (CoC Customs, ImpEx team, Finance, Master data etc ) and externally (with Customs Brokers) to ensure full compliance of Nestlé’s processes toward the customs law and Nestlé’s guidelines

  • Accountable and responsible for the optimum and compliant management of IPR OPR Monthly declarations to the authorities

  • Responsible for for the C1 process compliance and robustness for Nestlé in Switzerland (conducts internal audits, ensures all the legal requirements are met and liaises with the authorities on this subject)

  • Develops and implement risk assessments/gap analysis on International Trade issues Develop and manage internal control programs for import and export compliance

  • Lead and conduct audits to determine export/import compliance and implement improvement projects

  • Drives proactively all discussion and communication with externals stakeholders and repesents Nestlé externally in different instances - Safeguarding Nestlé's interrests in all Customs related topis

  • Provides expertise, risk analysis and mitigation plans on future legislation changes. Participates in the elaboration of the external communication on the topics

What will make you successful

  • Expertise in Swiss Customs Law, preferably with previous experience working for the authorities or as a Customs Expert in the private sector

  • Knowledge of import and export regulations, including IPR/OPR, for both inbound and outbound shipments to and from Switzerland

  • Familiarity with international trade and veterinary regulations (including C1/K1)

  • Previous experience in managing cross-border operations, including the handling of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs)

  • Proven track record in leading internal process audits

  • Strong understanding of risk management related to import and export activities

  • Proficiency in Office 365 applications such as Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Word

  • Basic knowledge of customs brokerage specific databases, such as SISA, and experience with Power BI Desktop and Power Automate

  • Working proficiency in German, English and French
