Position Overview:

The Tax and Compliance Senior is responsible for the maintenance of tax records and the preparation of sales tax returns, tax-related schedules and reports. This role will also be responsible for reviewing and verifying payroll related taxes and compliance forms. The Tax and Compliance Senior is responsible for the analysis of tax regulations to ensure all regulations are met by the Company. This position requires strong organizational and management skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines. This position will also support the Accounting team by performing general accounting functions as needed, including but not limited to, entering monthly journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and performing a variety of other financial analysis and reconciliations. The Tax and Compliance Senior will assist in the monthly financial statement closing along with management reporting. This role evaluates and makes improvements to existing processes. While this position is a part of the Accounting Department, it works with many other departments within the company.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain tax records, prepare sales tax returns, tax-related schedules and reports
  • Review and verify payroll related taxes and compliance forms
  • Work with necessary departments to setup new withholding and sales tax accounts as needed
  • Ensure the Company is aware of all tax regulations and is in compliance
  • Responsible for all external reporting such as governmental census bureau forms, state registrations, etc.
  • Perform various accounting general ledger duties, reporting and analysis.
  • Reconcile numerous general ledger accounts
  • Participates in the monthly financial close along with various management reporting and analysis.
  • Assists with the annual financial audit including preparing required work papers.
  • Additional duties include working with others on special process improvement projects along with other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for Food Safety as related to position

Why We'll Love You:

  • Bachelors degree in Business or Accounting.
  • Three to five years of accounting experience with knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Two years of sales tax exp rience preferred
  • CPA is preferred, but not required
  • Must have strong computer skills, including MS Excel, MS Word and preferably experience in large ERP software packages (Oracle and/or JD Edwards a plus).
  • Detail-oriented, self-starting, self-directed, team oriented, and professional with the ability to independently manage projects.
