Lenoir Community College Auctioneering Instructor (Part-time) in La Grange, North Carolina
The Auctioneering Instructor is responsible for teaching the Laws and Rules of North Carolina General Statute 85B and Subchapter 04B as outlined by the North Carolina Auctioneering License Board. The Instructor prepares students to pass the North Carolina Auctioneering Licensing certification exam.
The duties of the Auctioneering Instructor (Part-time) include, but are not limited to:
Mastery of Subject Matter
- Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge in the teaching discipline
- Display ability to interpret and evaluate the theories of the field or discipline
- Connect the subject matter with related fields
- Stay current in the subject matter through professional development; involvement in professional organizations; and attending professional meetings, conferences, and/or workshops
Teaching Performance
- Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students
- Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs
- Employ available instructional technology, i.e. the Internet, interactive technology, etc., when appropriate
- Encourage the development of communication skills and higher-order thinking skills through appropriate student assignments
Evaluation of Student Learning
- Establish and follow meaningful learning objectives
- Develop and explain methods that fairly measure student progress toward course objectives
- Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly to promote maximum learning
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit final grades each semester according to established deadlines
- Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and circumstances
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Applicant must have an unencumbered North Carolina Auctioneer License number issued by the N.C. Auctioneering License Board
- Applicant must be approved to teach auctioneering classes by the N.C. Auctioneering License Board
- Applicant must have a minimum of three years experience as an auctioneer
- Applicant must be an active auctioneer as a business owner or on staff with an approved auction house
- Licensure and/or certification requirements specific to the teaching discipline and external governing agencies shall be on file with Human Resources and should include NC Auctioneer Licenses and possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license
Working Conditions
- Classroom, lab, or shop environment
- Frequent standing and walking to monitor student progress
- Some light lifting of materials pertaining to lab projects
