Where is the work:

This position has been designated as On-Site in our La Crosse, Wi facility and is considered safety-sensitive.

Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer- Machining is responsible for technical support of production processes, with a focus on CNC machining and fixtures, related to the manufacturing of HVAC centrifugal chillers. In addition to providing technical support this role may require leading projects to support process improvements of moderate to significant scope as well as provide manufacturing engineering input for product design changes in production. This position is based out of our campus in La Crosse, WI and requires daily onsite presence.

Responsibilities:

  • Process ownership with responsibility for production processes and controls in a product manufacturing environment (includes providing technical support to production as needed to meet or exceed customer requirements).

  • Create and maintain CNC programs and related documentation for multiple machines.

  • Conduct process qualification activities to ensure delivered processes meet required specifications.

  • Develop and design fixtures and a variety of tooling such as cutting tools, dies, gauges, and fixtures related to the machining processes.

  • Provide technical CNC programming input support to product engineering and factory operations for new product and process development.

  • Create and maintain required documentation for new or updated processes and provide or support training of production associates.

  • Propose potential projects and provide technical leadership to help site achieve safety, quality, and productivity improvement goals within the manufacturing operation.

  • Utilize a standardized problem-solving approach to troubleshoot product and process failures and develop root cause solutions to prevent reoccurrences.

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional individuals and teams to build consensus and achieve best practice outcomes (includes participation in and occasionally leading of rapid improvement events as part of site’s Lean transformation journey).

  • Lead the development of manufacturing concepts to implementation of final process design.

  • Develop manufacturing concepts, cost models, machine processes, select capital equipment, designs workplace or cell layouts, develops quality and safety plans for new processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field of experience preferred; relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Two (2) or more years of related work experience in a manufacturing and machine programming environment is required (will consider co-ops and internships as experience).

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles a plus.

  • Strong computer software skills required (e.g. Microsoft Office, Mastercam, PTC Creo, AutoCad, etc.)

  • Working knowledge and experience with Fanuc, Siemens, OSP, Haas, and other machine controls preferred.

  • Experience with CNC two to five axis parametric / post processor programming preferred.

  • Understanding of applicable machining processes, cutting tools, and fixture theory.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and drawings, including GD&T.

  • Possess initiative to further develop technical skills, interpersonal skills and career path.

  • Strong work ethic, great attitude, customer-focused, team-oriented and results driven.

Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $80,000-$100,000.

Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
