About the Opportunity
For our Global Delivery Organization (GDO) in Krakow we are currently looking for a Project Accounting Manager, supporting the Energy & Environment International Business Group.
The aim of this role is to manage the team of Project Accountants working on assigned portfolios of projects. The Project Accounting Manager has primary responsibility for ensuring projects are maintained in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), company policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities Project Accounting Manager:
Manages the team of 35+ employees via 3-5 supervisors in Krakow and Bangalore (India)
Ensures that revenue is recognized in accordance with US GAAP and company policies, reviews key project metrics on a monthly basis
Reviews and approves various journal entries such as: revenue adjustments, cost accruals, provision for loss
Ensures timely collection and application of cash, reviews key cash management related entries on weekly and monthly basis
Review and approve project balances on Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Unbilled and Unearned items, DSO (Days Sales Outstanding)
Reviews month-end reporting on project performance including gross margin variances and all other financial activities, prepares specialized reports and accounting data analysis as required and ad hoc
Ensures that Project Accounting procedures and contract requirements are followed for project set-up, invoicing and closure and proper documentation is retained.
Actively collaborate with the business group and corporate functions to resolve cross-functional matters as well as with internal and external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance
Actively participates in the recruitment, training, retention and motivation of the team, in order to develop commitment and drive high performance
Provides guidance to Supervisors and Accountants on complex accounting matters
Identifies changes in existing procedures and policies, provides appropriate training to team members
Participates in transition of work and processes stabilization
Enforces internal controls and company procedures
Supports Project Delivery teams and responds to escalations
Participates in enterprise and GDO initiatives
Qualifications & Skills
MA Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent
8+ years of professional accounting experience with international exposure
Strong focus on Project Accounting
Proven supervisory and leadership experience
Understanding of US GAAP and SOX controls
Thorough knowledge of accounting processes. Ability to apply accounting/finance knowledge and technical skills to large number of diverse situations
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to organize and prioritize workload, multi tasks and meet required deadlines
Strong commitment to self-development and continuous learning
Excellent verbal and written communication and change management skills
A high level of resilience and ability to manage ambiguity and challenge
Fluency in English, both written and spoken
