Akamai's Networks organization is seeking an experienced Technical Program Management professional to lead and coordinate an array of exciting cross-functional initiatives. You will be at the forefront of critical projects and programs that directly contribute to achieving Akamai’s business goals and objectives. You will find this to be an extremely stimulating and challenging new position supporting a wide range of needs across the Networks Organization and beyond.

You will be managing a dynamic mix of both small and large projects, and will be responsible for driving initiatives involving many of the leaders within the Networks and Platform organizations. The role offers the selected candidate exceptional visibility and potential for rapid career advancement. You will work with cross-functional teams including Networks, Platform Engineering, Product Development, Finance, and Systems. Close coordination with global team members is a key component of this position as you will be reporting into a PMO based out of Cambridge Massachusetts.

To succeed in this role, you must be a well-organized, self-starter with a demonstrated ability to problem solve, lead, prioritize, generate high quality deliverables, and to effectively facilitate communications between teams while also considering the big picture. Exceptional negotiating, influencing, and communication skills should be part of your daily toolkit. Working within the Networks team, you will be expected to understand, discuss, and be able to articulate technical subject matter, and to work with the team to bound scope, establish integrated schedules, and to assess and communicate progress and risks. You must have excellent writing skills, strong oral communication skills, and be comfortable speaking with and presenting to senior management.

As A Technical Program Manager in Networks your responsibilities will include:

  • Own, manage, and drive a set of projects and initiatives to completion

  • Coordinate initiatives across key stakeholders in Networks and other Akamai organizations to establish program scope and understand schedule requirements

  • Work with program management professionals across key stakeholders to identify and manage dependencies and to keep communication channels open on high visibility programs

  • Identify areas of risk and opportunity, manage conflicts, and collaboratively create mutually acceptable solution

  • Develop, edit, maintain, and publish program management documentation including program scope definitions, schedules, risk management reports, and resource estimates

  • Communicate program status, decisions, actions, as well as risk areas and mitigation plans

  • Develop strong partnerships with program stakeholders across the organization

Required Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field plus 3 years of overall experience

  • 3+ years of experience with technical program management/PMO activities, ideally across organizations or geographies

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with, or understanding of, Akamai’s technology

  • Masters degree in relevant discipline and/or MBA preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to grasp new technical concepts quickly.

  • Proven leadership, organization, and planning skills.

  • Proven ability to deliver large cross-functional strategic initiatives.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills and the ability to work effectively and professionally across a wide range of constituencies and/or geographies.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced matrix organization.

  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently under tight deadlines while responding to changing business and technical conditions.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
