Supervisor, Valving 3rd Shift

Work Mode: Onsite

Location: Onsite at Kohler, WI

3rd Shift Monday-Friday 10:30 PM-6:30 AM

Opportunity

The primary responsibility of the Supervisor is to support and direct a production work team. Utilizing a combination of technical knowledge, leadership and team management skill sets, the Supervisor will guide the team to effective results within the areas of process improvement, production, safety, quality, cost and delivery. This role will also include Quality responsibilities. The Supervisor would respond to and investigate quality concerns on the factory floor.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development of a production work team including, but not limited to – establishing work expectations, monitoring individual performance, providing ongoing feedback, facilitating on-the-job training, coaching performance issues, resolving conflict, reinforcing positive behavior, effectively collaborating with other functional areas (i.e. engineering, quality, purchasing) and driving the Kohler core competencies among all team members. Span of control typically 12-24 production team associates.

  • Coordinate the overall quality of the work team and demonstrate an understanding of quality standards including ISO and Quality systems. Lead the work team to effectively monitor and track quality of product. Drive continual process and quality improvement by coordinating cross-functional areas to Manager Valving capability with customer requirements.

  • Accountable for the overall safety and the coaching of the work team to self-monitor safety. Conduct effective safety meetings. Lead safety analysis, thoroughly understand the proper usage of equipment within the work teams, and coordinate accident analysis and safety audits. Understand the implications of legislation such as OSHA and EPA regulations, as well as Kohler Co. safety policies and procedures.

  • Investigate quality concerns on the factory floor.Compare physical parts with blueprints to verify conformance.Collect data and information for Senior Project Analyst- Quality.

  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying process improvement opportunities and achieving annual decreases in operating cost as a result of improvement processes. Such tools could include 5S, 6 Sigma, Business Process Redesign, Set-up and 3-P.

  • Foster a collaborative work environment by leading in problem-solving within the team and across functional areas – examples would include engaging the work team in discussions about new equipment with Engineering and Maintenance; or establishing a joint problem solving team between Operator, Supervisor and Maintenance when determining whether to run, fix or shut down a process due to problems with a machine.

  • Develop daily/weekly work schedules as well as oversee the work team as they develop and execute the daily schedules. In addition, provide guidance and tools for the work team to manage scheduled time off such as vacations. Coach team on the basics of on-time deliveries and customer satisfaction.

  • Fully understand and interpret the labor contract as well as processes and policies affecting personnel administration.

  • Prepare reports, work on special projects and perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

  • Attend ongoing internal continuous education certification courses when required.

  • Participate in safety initiatives such as wall to wall inspections, support program management/updates, incident investigations, safety training and accident prevention, day to day safety and new equipment process approval, Kaizen events, safety teams, allocate funds for safety equipment and initiatives, and return to work program.

Skills/Requirements

  • Associates Degree required with a Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 1 – 4 years manufacturing experience required.

  • Demonstrated Communication and Leadership Skills.

The salary range for this position is $69,800 - $87,950. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
