Silver Bay Seafoods Quality Control Lead in Kodiak, Alaska

Silver Bay Seafoods is looking to hire an experienced Quality Control Lead for our Kodiak Operations. In this role as the Quality Control Lead plays an integral part in the production process by ensuring company, production, and government standards are being met. Each Quality Control Lead is responsible for a particular department in the process and is responsible for the tracking of the product through their department. Quality Control Leads monitor department operations, inspect products, and report findings with the department supervisors and Quality Control Supervisor.

**Essential Functions/Qualifications

**The responsibilities of the position include the following:


  • Conducts standardized tests to assess product characteristics and ensure regulatory and company requirements are met
  • Documents data obtained during quality assurance activities, consistent with HACCP standards and company policies and procedures
  • Audits production facility and reviews employee behavior for proper sanitation
  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality control checks to Production/QA Management
  • Maintains a working knowledge of company, government, and industry quality assurance codes and standards
  • Maintains hand-dip/foot-dip stations
  • Takes pictures with a digital camera of product
  • Distributing cleaning agents/utensils for department clean ups
  • Inspect plant sanitation and cleanliness and monitors sanitation process
  • Perform regular pest control and document findings
  • Timely and regular attendance
  • Other duties as assigned Competencies

Functional

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; and able to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
