Location Description Michael Foods, Inc. located in Klingerstown, Pennyslvania known for their ice cream socials at Klingerstown Lutheran Parish, fishing rodeo, and fireman's parade. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: The purpose of the driver is to meet the transportation needs of the company by combining superior customer service with uncompromising safety. To ensure the safe and efficient operations of fleet vehicles, to avoid injury to employees or third parties, and to prevent direct and indirect economic loss to the Company. It shall be the expectation of all CASA Trucking staff to perform the essential functions required with a high degree of safety, in a legally compliant manner and with environmental responsibility in mind. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure compliance with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations relating to the operation of a commercial motor vehicle. Comply with hours of service regulations. Have the ability to operate and maintain an electronic logging device. Perform proper pre-trip, on-the-road trip and post-trip inspections as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. The vehicle inspection is completed on the electronic logging device and submitted as soon as completed. Ensuring tractor, tanker and trailer are in safe operating condition. Inspect cargo to ensure proper loading, securing and weight distribution of said cargo before and during trip. Protect cargo against shifting, damage and /or theft. Loading/unloading full pallet freight as needed using walk behind power jacks. Completing necessary paperwork for cargo being hauled. Communicate all variances promptly so the company can take corrective action as needed. Complete all paperwork accurately and submit it promptly. Must be courteous, cooperative and respectful at all times. Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained in order to maintain SQF certification. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. Travel in the states of PA and NJ being home daily Perform proper fueling of tractor and refrigerated trailer units. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Applicants must be a least 21 years of age and posess a valid CDL driver’s license (required) Ability to pass a CDL medical examination (required) Must adhere to the substance and alcohol testing policy of CASA Trucking Must agree to CASA Trucking retrieving a copy of their motor vehicle driving record Must agree to release Drug and Alcohol information from the Drug and Alcohol Consortium Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to obtain Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification Ability to obtain Tanker Endorsement on a valid CDL driver’s license. PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Valid CDL (Class A) license with Tanker endorsement. Be familiar with all state and federal regulations pertaining to the operations of a commercial vehicle. 2+ plus years of tractor trailer and/or the equivalent combination of education, training and or experience to safely do the job. Ability to read and write English Obtain PIT certification and use motorized power jacks and/or hand jacks as needed Ability to crank landing gear/dolly legs up or down Ability to lift 50 lbs. safely Ability to interact with customers/people in a professional manner.
