C.H. Robinson Procurement Analyst in Klang, Malaysia

Job summary

This position will primarily lead the procurement of C.H. Robinson Ocean services with local carriers on global trade lanes and support the development of Ocean Freight businesses and solutions within the Asia region.

The major responsibilities of the role are to manage local carrier relationships, negotiate ocean freight rates and services with assigned service carriers in all trade lanes, and fulfil the MQC to ensure our comments are met with maximized value and profitability created to the Company.

In addition, the role will be responsible for local space and allocation control to ensure better yield management to the Company, as well as, periodic reports to the Ocean Services Management in the performance review and global ocean strategy alignment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and negotiate assigned service carrier contracts on multiple trade lanes.

  • Handle daily rate request and quotations within Asia network or overseas branches, and ensure it is processed in a timely manner.

  • Analyze and Plan space allocation with service contract carriers for fixed, quarterly and FAK contracts.

  • Collaborate with global networks to ensure volume commitment are fulfilled based on allocated space.

  • Work closely with Commercial teams on RFQ pricing strategies.

  • Coordinate and problem solve with carriers and/or other entities to ensure successful deliveries of efficiency.

  • Maintain long term and strong carrier relationships for the continuous expansion of C.H. Robinson global ocean service products.

  • Provide management reports to Country and global ocean services management on carrier service network changes and market analysis.

  • Provide periodic rate guidance to local Commercial / Network on new business solicitations.

  • Support other ad-hoc tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of pricing experience in global forwarding or international logistics company.

  • Familiar with ocean services contract negotiation and operations in NVOCC.

  • Fluent in spoken and written English (mandatory), and/or Mandarin to liaise with Chinese associates if required.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.

  • Advanced interpersonal communication skills and negotiation skills.

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision, or as a flexible team player, sense of priority, urgency and aptitude to work under pressure.
