United States Fleet Forces Command IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK SERVICES) in Kittery, Maine

Summary You will serve as a INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (NETWORK SERVICES) in the TECHNICAL SUPPORT DIVISION, IT and CYBER SECURITY OFFICE, of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will be responsible for designing, engineering, configuring, installing, testing, and documenting complex architectures and component configurations relating to wired and wireless (WiFi/WIDS/RFID) products and/or solutions. You will be responsible for defining and maintaining network architecture and infrastructure. You will be responsible for configuring and optimizing network, hubs, routers and switches. You will use job-relevant information systems- monitoring network capacity, performance, and diagnosing and resolving network problems. You will identify, analyze and improve business processes to meet new or existing goals and objectives Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: - Experience with current network analysis and design techniques. - Experience with the ability to provide, thorough oral and written communications, and guidance to management to determine the most appropriate methods for delivering information via the network infrastructure. - Experience with network development, testing, installation, configuring and optimizing network hubs, routers and switches, operations, management, and maintenance concepts and methods. - Experience applying the skill of common site-specific network hardware, architecture, protocols, monitoring techniques, switching, routing, VPNs, and access control. AND Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: Experience: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. IT-related experience must demonstrate each of the four competencies listed below: Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
