Job description
HAVIN, Armstrong County's Domestic and Sexual Assault Center is seeking a professional to work with families involved with Kay's Cottage, Armstrong County's Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) and provide outreach and education in the community. *Full-time 37.5 hours per week. Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills and knowlege of legal, medical and social systems. Act 33 & 34 Clearances, FBI Background Clearance, Pre-Employment Drug Sreening and a valid PA Driver's License are required.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social work, behavioral health, and child welfare to provide support and advocacy for families in need.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Crisis assessment and intervention, risk assessment and safety planning and support for children and family members at all stages of involvement with CAC.
- Presence at CAC during the forensic interview (FI) to participate in information sharing and assessing needs of child and supportive caregiver.
- Provide direct services to families in crisis situations.
- Access to transportation to interviews, court, treatment and other case-related meetings.
- Collaborate with community resources to ensure families receive comprehensive support.
- Coordinated case management.
- Coordinate and facilitate education/prevention programs.
- Develop education and training materials.
- Provide counseling to child sexual assault victims and their significant others, individually and in group settings.
- Maintain required statistical records.
Qualified applicants must have:
- Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice, social science or related field and/or equivalent experience regarding sexual assault and child abuse.
- Some knowledge and/or experience in working with child abuse and sexual assault victims.
- Abilities require walking up and down stairs, carrying items that may weigh up to thirty pounds.
- Ability to work independently yet compatibly with others.
- Ability to work flexible hours (including some after hours and/or weekends).
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, education or related field and/or equivalent experience
- Pass Act 33 & 34 Clearances and FBI Background Clearance
- Pass Pre-Employment Drug Screening
- Have a valid PA Driver's License
- Complete HAVIN's domestic violence/sexual assault counselor training program
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism
- Knowledge of child protective services and crisis management techniques
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism
