UNC Health Care Pharmacy Technician in Kinston, North Carolina

The Pharmacy Technician performs a variety of technical and clerical assignments under the supervision of a pharmacist. Assignments involve unit dose distribution, IV preparation, floor stock maintenance, charging, inventory control and record keeping.
The pharmacy technician, under pharmacist supervision, provides nursing and ancillary staff with medications for distribution and administration to patients while performing other clerical duties relating to patient charges and record keeping.
EDUCATION
o High School Diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE
o Work experience in some aspect of pharmacy is preferred but not required.
LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION
o Pharmacy technician training or certification is preferred but not required.
OTHER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
o Concentration and attention to detail, good verbal ability and communication skills, clerical ability.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
o Potential exposure to toxic and caustic chemicals requiring the use of personal protective equipment. Stressful, crowded working conditions and rotating shifts. Clean, well-lit comfortable climate with moderate noise level.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
o Pushes and pulls patient medication carts daily, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching with arms throughout shift. Close visual ability, good depth perception and physical hand and finger dexterity, listening and communication skills. Requires lifting of weights of 30 pounds.
