UNC Lenoir Health Care Emergency Department Technician in Kinston, North Carolina

Summary: Provides patient care in the ED as delegated by the Licensed Nursing Staff. Performs EKGs and phlebotomy as needed in the department within the scope of the NA II.
Responsibilities:
Patients and families are served in providing direct patient care services. Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner to project a positive image of the department and hospital. Insures that contacts with other health care members are friendly, helpful, and courteous.

Qualifications EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of North Carolina Board of Nursing approved Nursing Assistant II course. Completes the EKG and phlebotomy on the job training.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
- Two years of health care experience preferred.
LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION
- Certified by the State Board of Nursing as a NA II, and BLS certification.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
- Good interpersonal, communication, and observation skills are essential. Understanding of patient care needs according to developmental stages for various age groups.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens requiring the use of protective equipment; exposure to other infectious diseases. Exposure to chemicals utilized to clean and disinfect equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Working and standing throughout the shift. Lifting, pulling, turning, and pushing patients daily.
