Caswell Developmental Center Administrative Dietitian Supervisor in Kinston, North Carolina

This management position involves the supervision, coordination, administration, and management of Clinical Dietitians, as well as food service staff in the areas of Outfoods and the Sandbar Caf.
Work includes recruitment and selection authorization; procurement of nutritional supplements and special events items while adhering to budgetary guidelines; supporting ongoing sanitation and safety practices; assuring adherence with the performance process; training, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action; and coordinating and assisting with training, monitoring, and evaluating.
Duties also include management and direction provided to staff in order to ensure compliance with policies/procedures outlined by ICF Regulations, Caswell/DHHS policies, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Standard Practices, and Safety and Sanitation Guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:

Qualified candidates must document on the application that they clearly possess all the following:
- Thorough knowledge of the accepted principles and practices of normal and therapeutic nutrition as it relates to chronic disease and nutrition needs across the lifespan.
- Thorough knowledge of purchasing and procuring food, nutritional supplements, equipment, and supplies, food sanitation principles and methods of maintaining standards.
- Considerable knowledge of methods, material, and equipment used in large-scale cooking and food service activities.
- Ability to delegate responsibility and to plan, organize, and direct employees with a variety of skills.
- Ability to analyze operations and to evaluate needs and improvements.
- Ability to foster a cooperative working environment with effective internal and external communication.
- Ability to motivate employees to work positively toward departmental and organizational goals.
- Ability to serve as an effective liaison between the dietary department and other professional services departments.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Master's degree in Nutrition, Instit tional Management, Food Service, or Dietetics from an appropriately accredited institution with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND)Commission on dietetic registration eligibility;
or
Bachelor's degree in Foods and Nutrition, Dietetics, or related area from an appropriately accredited institution
and
completion of an

approved dietetic internship or coordinated undergraduate program with

Commission on dietetic registration eligibility, and one year of dietary experience.
Degrees must be from an appropriately accredited college or university.
