Job Description

The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, with an anticipated start date of Fall 2025. We are seeking candidates with expertise in aerodynamics, fluid dynamics, thermal-fluid systems, and hypersonic flows, who are committed to advancing both research and education in these critical areas of aerospace and mechanical engineering.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop a robust, externally funded research program in one or more of the following areas: aerodynamics, fluid dynamics, thermal-fluid systems, hypersonic flows, and their applications in aerospace and mechanical engineering.

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in areas such as aerodynamics, fluid dynamics, computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and thermal-fluid systems.

  • Collaborate on interdisciplinary research initiatives with faculty members across the department and with external partners, including industry and government agencies.

  • Mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students, fostering their academic and professional development.

  • Participate in the department’s ongoing curriculum development, service activities, and outreach initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field by the start date.

  • Demonstrated potential for high-impact research and the ability to secure external funding.

  • A commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary academic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in computational or experimental research in aerodynamics, fluid dynamics, hypersonic flows, or thermal-fluid systems.

  • Experience working with industry or government research labs.

  • A record of published research in high-quality journals and conferences.
