Williamsburg County Transit System Bus Operator (CDL Required) in Kingstree, South Carolina
The employer will be conducting a SLED background check, drug screening and physical prior to hiring. Hours typically run from 5:30 a.m. 7:00 p.m. with these hours varying General Summary:
- The Driver shall be responsible for providing Safe, Dependable, and Courteous Transportation Services for passengers to and from their appointed destinations in a timely manner
- Responsible to the Road Supervisor of the Williamsburg County Transit System.
Qualifications:
- Drivers must have a High School Diploma/GED or have graduated from a vocational or technical college.
- This position requires being responsible, experienced in driving, and reliable.
- Must possess a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL), in certain situations a valid SC Drivers License will be sufficient.
- Must be at least 18 years old with at least one year experience.
Duties and Respinsibilities:
- Shall transport passengers to and from destinations in a safe manner.
- Driving the speed limit shall be at a minimum when transporting passengers during inclement weather.
- Shall maintain discipline of passengers while in transit.
- Must be friendly, courteous, have a pleasing personality, yet firm when the need arises for discipline.
- Shall perform daily pre and post-trip maintenance check, which includes checking oil, fuel, and other fluids.
- Shall fuel vehicle daily.
- Shall maintain cleanliness of vehicle at all times, including mopping, sweeping, dusting, and washing the outside.
- Shall be responsible for making requests to mechanics for vehicle repairs, servicing, inspections, etc., as needed.
- Shall maintain daily logs for each trip/route, and report any major changes (decreasing/increasing ridership, road detours, etc.).
- Shall assist passengers when boarding/departing vehicle if needed.
- Shall operate wheelchair lifts and properly secure passenger wheelchairs and walkers to the floor of the vehicle.
- Assists passengers with straps, safety belts, and wheelchair restraints as needed.
- Shall collect proper fares and/or tokens from passengers when they board the bus.
- Shall report any and all Accidents/Incidents immediately.
- Accidents/Incidents must be reported as follows:
- Obtain name, address, telephone number and other important information on all passengers/persons involve.
- Contact Director or Road Supervisor.
- Shall participate in all pre and in-service training, workshops, etc. as required.
- Shall perform any other duties as assigned.
