Position Summary:

This position is responsible for set up and maintaining folder/gluer equipment and processes to produce folding cartons.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Complies with all company and department safety, quality, productivity and security procedures.

  • Ensures accuracy in recording of operator documentation involving all aspects of the assigned machine. This includes production reports, specification verification, quality requirements, machine logbooks, checklists and SAP.

  • Monitors machine for inefficient operation and makes adjustments as necessary or notifies and assists (as needed) the lead operator in resolution of such issues.

  • Understands and operates glue monitoring and control systems on the machines.

  • Schedules are 12-hour shifts on alternate days with rotating weekends off.

  • Must be flexible; able to work other shifts, overtime and weekends when needed.

  • Set up and maintain the folder/gluer to produce folding cartons in accordance with customer specifications and current standard operating procedures.

  • Locate and load proper stock in preparation for operation.Set up and run scanning equipment and verifies label accuracy prior to start-up after make-ready.

  • Prepares make-ready feeder, pre-fold, glue system, final fold, delivery, pack station and inspection system, wash and fill glue pots.

  • Review design changes with supervisor, die room and designer.

  • Communicates required information to co-workers and manager.

  • Ensures total quality of the job while in operation, performs quality checks and documentation.

  • Maintains the machine and area in accordance with the standard operation procedures.

  • Demonstrates competency in all basic folds: straight-line, lock-bottom, inner partition, etc.

  • Completes daily production reports, obtains work-in-process loads, based on machine usage, and performs other job duties as requested, directed or assigned.

  • Understand and comply with plant and finishing department rules, regulations, and procedures.

  • Perform regular and preventative maintenance as needed.

  • Relieve crew members for breaks as needed.

  • Must be flexible; able to work other shifts, overtime covering vacations, call outs.

  • May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

Required Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and follow instructions

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations

  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve gluer problems

  • Mechanical aptitude, experience in performing preventative maintenance with mechanical troubleshooting ability

  • Highly motivated, self-starter with strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to frequently lift or carry 10 to 25 pounds and occasionally required to lift or carry 26 to 50 pounds

  • Ability to regularly stand and use hands to fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Preferred Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED

  • Work experience in manufacturing environment

  • Previous experience as an operator working with high-speed equipment

  • 2 or more years' experience Bobst Folder Gluer, Master fold, Alpina, Domino, Carton Pack equipment.

  • SAP experience preferred
